About Me

Hi! I’m Ashley, an experienced freelance journalist open to assignments.

Fun fact: In kindergarten, I received the Most Expressive Writer award. (I cried because I wanted Friendliest, if that tells you anything about me!)

I’ve always had a deep passion for writing. I wrote about a detective named Cacktell Jones as a kid, but now I crave writing about other topics, such as relationships, mental health, intuitive eating, and accessible exercise. My specialty is reported service pieces, which I write thoughtfully and with empathy.

So far, I have bylines in HuffPost, PopSugar, Men’s Health, SHAPE, Yahoo, BuzzFeed, Well+Good, HelloGiggles, Rewire, Medium, and many other publications. Some of my articles have trended on Twitter or reached tens of thousands of views.

I turn in clean copy on time and am hardworking. I’m also communicative, dedicated, and flexible.

As far as my education, I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2020. While there, I specialized in public relations in the Hussman School of Journalism and Media, one of the top journalism schools in the country.

Currently, I’m in grad school at North Carolina Central University to become a clinical mental health counselor.

Some things I love (read: am obsessed with): dad jokes, thrillers, playing volleyball, the moment when I’m petting a cat or dog but haven’t had an allergic reaction yet, spending time with friends, and the word “literally.” Literally.
