Coaching/Consulting Reviews

As mentioned on my “Resources for Writers and PR Professionals” page, I offer coaching/consulting services!

I know trying out a new coach or consultant can be scary. Will they be worth the money? Helpful? Kind? So I gathered reviews from a few wonderful clients! Here’s what they said.

“I discovered Ashley Broadwater’s writing after falling deep into an Autostraddle rabbit hole. I clicked on her profile and read some work published on other sites, and soon I found myself subscribing to her weekly newsletters and writer’s resources.

This string of events all happened near the beginning of my freelancing career and as soon as I subscribed to Ashley’s resources, I reached out to schedule a phone call with her.

She responded quickly and answered all of my questions, and even helped me narrow down sources to pitch to. Ashley takes time out of her day to reach out to me with opportunities she sees fit.

She compiles the best call for pitches, writing jobs, and sage advice in her weekly newsletters, and I look forward to receiving them every Monday.” -Gabrielle

“In a world where entrepreneurs and freelancers are charging hundreds, if not thousands of dollars for their time, seeing Ashley’s affordable coaching services is so refreshing. She is super generous with her knowledge, and is always willing to share resources that will help you grow as a writer.

I also really appreciated how supportive she is beyond our coaching calls; Ashley continues to email/DM me with opportunities aligned with my writing interests and goals.” -Sahana

“Ashley’s name is near ubiquitous when you look into the freelance writing community online. Her extensive bylines (HuffPost, PopSugar, Well + Good, etc.) established her as a professional in the freelancing field, so I knew she had the knowledge I was looking for when I first started freelance writing.

Ashley was and has always been very approachable; I was able to get one of my first writing gigs through her. She helped me identify key phrases editors use when they’re calling for pitches, how to tailor my writing better to fit a publication, and gave suggestions on which publications to reach out to based on my portfolio. Ashley has amazing resources and I’d highly recommend her for anyone new to freelance writing!” -Fairley

I began my freelance journey in January 2023. I’m so lucky to stumble upon Ashley’s free resources on Medium because when you just started, everything seems very confusing. I ended up booking a coaching session with her and purchased other resources from her ko-fi shop. It’s honestly the best decision I’ve made. It helped me learn how to pitch properly.

I’ve worked with several publications so far and I’m just excited to work more with her in the future so I can get more familiar with the freelancing industry.

If you’re on the same journey of starting to freelance, I highly recommend checking her shop as she got everything you need!

P.S.: Her Newsletter on Substack is also super helpful – it makes things easier as all you need to do is choose which pub to pitch and prepare your best shot! -Anggun
